What An Incoming Request Means

An incoming Interchange request means another workspace wants your workspace to share selected data types. No active data connection is created until your workspace approves the request.

Review the requester, requested data, and business purpose before approving.

Review A Request

  1. Open Data.
  2. Open Interchange.
  3. Select Requests.
  4. Filter to Inbound.
  5. Open the request.
  6. Review the requesting workspace and data types.

Approve A Request

Approve a request when the requester is trusted and the requested data matches the relationship.

After approval:

  • The request status changes to active.
  • A connection is created.
  • Data can flow according to the connection direction.
  • If the request includes chat, a chat connection can be created between the workspaces.

Reject A Request

Reject a request when the requester is unknown, the requested data is too broad, or the relationship does not justify sharing.

After rejection:

  • No active connection is created.
  • The requesting workspace sees the request as rejected.
  • The request remains part of the request history.

Cancel A Request

Cancel a request when it is no longer needed or should be stopped after creation. Cancelling updates the request status and prevents the connection from continuing as an active sharing path.

Approval Checklist

Before approving, confirm:

  • The requester is the expected workspace.
  • The requested data types are appropriate.
  • Internal approval is complete if your organization requires it.
  • The data owner understands what will be shared.
  • The connection can be removed later if the relationship changes.

For Sensitive Data

Financial data, compliance records, employee data, and contract details should be approved only when there is a clear business reason. Use the narrowest data set that supports the request.
